Petite-Patrie

I live near metro Fabre and would be into carpooling with someone in my area or along the way. I tend to drive down Papineau to head to Habitat. My schedule is really flexible because I usually work a lot for 4 days and then have 5 days off. I started surfing Habitat last year and went pretty regularly for most of the summer. I'll probably go today for the first time this year and pretty much every day that I can from now on. I haven't surfed anywhere else in Montreal.

I'd also be up for occasional trips to Maine/New Hampshire. I have been ocean surfing for about 20 years off and on, so I'm up for chasing down some hurricane surf. I'm 34 and female. My French is weak, but getting better all the time.

Well, I live on the south shore and I wanted to try surfing for my first time.

I have a 4 door Honda Civic... if I bring down the seats would I be able to fit 2 surf boards? If so then perhaps I could give you a ride to Habitat. I live on the South Shore but I would not mind going on the island to give you a lift because I would need someone to show me the ropes.

Let me know if you are interested.

I really think it's a good idea to take a lesson. If you have a lot of ocean surfing experience, then I could point you in the right direction because then you'd already be really comfortable on a board. Otherwise, I'm not up for that sort of responsibility. It's only my second season, and the only reason I find river surfing pretty easy is that I have been surfing for such a long time. But, I still float right on past the wave on a regular basis (I might be more consistent had a taken in a lesson or two... hint hint). Seriously, in the classes they really hold your hand to get you going. If you really don't want to cough up the $200 (I sure didn't), then we could meet up at the wave and discuss catching/riding the wave. There are also the 1 day classes and private lessons. I spent a bit of time watching what people did before going for it. If you have a board and wetsuit, now is definitely a good time to give it a try before you have to use a rope to catch right sides.

Well, I thank you for your honesty. I did check online and found a local business that gives a 2 day course on river surfing. And If I am not mistaken it's at Habitat 67 that they teach you.

I spoke to a few of my friends and we will most likely end up trying the two day course first before anything. Like you mentioned it would not be a simple vocal lesson and then I am good to go.

Perhaps once I have more experience we could go river surfing together but like you mentioned it would be better for me to take those lesssons.
